Motivation from Quit Your Day Job Story

Two years ago when I moved to France, and after intensively learning the language for a year, I have decided to restart my activities in making jewelries. Despite D's presence and loving support, doing everything alone can be depressing.  I miss chitchatting unimportant topic with the coworkers, I miss my friends sometimes, and my family all the time.

Yesterday, though, I stumbled upon a Quit Your Day Job story on Etsy blog, and so much motivated by  this couple the owner of Blue Hour Design.

You can read the full article here, but I'll just quote something that motivates me.

*Don’t forget that business ebbs and flows. When business is temporarily slow, instead of feeling down, use that time to come up with new designs, marketing techniques or anything to improve your business. Don’t worry, the sales will come — and when they do, you need to be prepared!*

And when they are asked about the hardest part about running their own business, I just love their respond..

*It’s all freaking hard, but we absolutely love it! We have never worked this hard in our lives, but we don’t want to do anything else — this is it! Every morning we wake up looking forward to our day. We’re very passionate about what we do and know that having our own business is what allows us to live our lives exactly the way we want to live them.*

Well, with that, I think I'm ready to go back to work now.. What motivates you today?

Friday Morning Walk

Every morning I walk with D to his tram station.  Working from home, I find it sometimes difficult to be motivated to start the day, so last year, coming back from our summer vacation, I picked up this habit.  This way an hour of morning walk session consider to be a good daily workout and I came back home all ready to start the day.

Sometimes, of course, I don't come straight home.  This morning I took a detour around Ivry-sur-Seine and found a funny announcement posted on one of the door around that quartier.

In English it means: "Be Careful of weird cat, very mean and hungry.  House trapped"

Enjoy your weekend!

Last Weekend

Saturday D and I had planned to visit La Sorbonne for the Journée du Patrimoine (Heritage Day) but we couldn't resist the beautiful day and stay outside instead.  Having falafel for lunch, hang out around Le Marais, visited our favorite store, FLEUX', and found a couple of coup de coeur..

What do you think about this geometry box for the home of your jewelry collection? I think it's neat.

Black jewelry organizer tree is rather classic for a jewelry organizer, but I still think it's practical and the black would really match my colorful collection.

I have been looking for a short stool for the mudroom.  Don't get me wrong, living in Paris, this means a little two by two meter square space at the entrance to park your jackets, shoes, umbrellas, bags, and keys.  So I thought that this stool might be a comfortable things to sit on while taking of shoes after a long day.

What did you do last weekend?

Detacheable Dangle Earrings: A Solution for Busy Women

This pair of earrings can be loud, but the hoop is also wearable alone.  This is why it can be a solution for you who don't have time to change.  It lets you change your look from feminine, simple daily look into rather glam and (a little bit) bitchy.

Here goes the link to the interchangeable jewelries collection.  You'll see other items of course, but good news, more to come..

Suchi Reddy's Miniscule Sunshine

I stumble upon this while surfing on the interior inspiration for my little apartment.  So amazed by how much stuff can fit into as little as 34.8 square meter / 375 square feet.  You can read all about the project here, or watch the video.
