Butterfly in the Stomach on Cyber Monday Etsy Special

Oh, I have to admit that this weekend my heart just could not stop pounding normally..

It's all because of the black friday cyber monday sale. on Les bijoux de Siany.  It is like you have a butterfly that treat your stomach as a beautiful garden.

I opened SianyKitty online store on etsy in 2009. It started with five items and has been consistently that way.  Until feb 2011, I added one items per month.  With my french course that occupies me almost the whole year, and the wedding, I always found myself not in a good timing to add more collection in the store.  Finally last october,  I really am putting my feet down to commit on continuing this business.

Learning along with the fellow etsians, I decided to participate this big black friday cyber monday etsy special.  And that is the root of the fever I am having right now. It's normal right? Considering that it is my FIRST online promotion.

Here goes what I did... I make more jewelry, took more photos, and show them off everywhere: on my facebook fanpage, twitter, and finally, VOILA!

Enjoy the rest of your long weekend! Meanwhile I am crossing all the fingers hoping that the butterfly found its way out of my stomach. Oh, what do you think about the photos by the way?

Happy Thansgiving!

A couple of weeks ago, we visited, again, Parc de Bercy, yeah we can't get enough of dead leaves. There is something magical about the falling leaves, not the dead.  The soft warm color of autumn.. Everything is beautiful, even the sky, and the special flower that blooms just during this time of season...

My Husband was too excited and took almost all corner that he consider gorgeous.  Consequently, it is kinda hard to see him not aiming for a second.  Sometimes he would leave me alone with my park and concentrate on his object.  Sometimes needs model for his backdrop.  In that case, I solve his problem.  I am his most truthful model (as he is my truthful photographer).

Well, I came prepared, with the gorgeous hair, soft make up, and, of course, I brought some of the jewelry.   I told him, I will model for you, if you take the photos of the jewelries.  Well, he couldn't say no too often.. so obviously..

So, after being told to pose this and pose that, here goes, in my opinion, the best four. You'll ask where are the jewelries? I guess my sweet photographer focus too much on the cute face and the autumn leaves...

In that case, he owe me a light box! uh? where did that come from? umh, somewhere...

Please have a good weekend! And spend your money wisely on the black friday. And, oh, eat your turkey wisely! Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Experimenting on the Image Background

If you see my last product images, you probably have already guessed on what I have been obsessed these last days.

Right, dots... I have been spending my time sitting down on the floor dotting every white space I could find.

I have loved some and hated some more. But one thing I know I wouldn't quit. After all it made cute backgroud to my product photos.
Well, well, have a good inspiring weekend! I'll probably stay at home and dotting some more...

Yayoi Kusama's Box of Mirrors

Some of her work are quite hard to understand. There is this gross repetitive installation of polka-dots gigantic tentacles that do nothing but provoke a negative sensation.  "My Flower Bed", that has been part of the  permanent exposition at the MusĂ©e National d'Art Modern, in my opinion, is icky, dusty, and definitely anything but neither flower nor bed.  None of her last canvas designs attract me, it's, again, repetitive. Disliked everything about it. It's just gross.

And if I haven't visit this last installation, I'd definitely swear on the guestbooks.

Before exiting, the way was guided to enter this wall and ceiling mirrored room filled with hundreds of lightbulbs. She started this infinity room in the middle of her career in 1965 and soon develop the same concept with different objects, colors, and themes.

I came into this room and I felt alone, outside, during the night.  And while gazing to the furthest direction I saw this alluring immense constellation with its blinking stars that softly change its color every couple of second. Long enough for me to admire, but fast enough to end one imagination and restart another one.  It is impossible to decide for oneself but to submit to this indulgence.

I tried to capture every pallets but it is almost impossible to do that.  With quite a series of photos and angles I hope you can somehow share my experience.

Which leads me home smiling ear to ear. I didn't forget to leave beautiful words on the guestbook. Thank you Yayoi Kusama, you have made my day!

Sixth Floor at the Museum

Until January 9th next year, I imagine the 6th floor at the Centre George Pompidou would be packed with the admirers of Edvard Munch. As that was the case on my last visit.  I was positively hoping to see the scream, and its different versions.  But even with the absent of this most famous painting I feel so much consumed by his dramatic way of explaining everything. I personally adore the versions of the sick child, the vampire, and the immense series of the crying girl.  My favorite, thank's to the pallette, is the Avenue in the Snow.  Despite of the topics he is interested in: the dramas, the bloody images and the tragedies, this impressionnist artist never stops seeing beautiful colors. Bravo!

Awww.. you don't expect me to take pictures from the gallery, do you? I'm not allowed, sorry.  But here, our capture from the museum, just from the balcon of the 6th floor: a comedian who try to slow-motion a murder scene.  Quite impressive compared to other performance artist I've seen from the same area, I stayed more than ten minutes to find out if he failed to stab his victim.

And Ahhhh, Paris... take my breath away, as always..There were a lot of drama in the sky that day but that makes it more gorgeous. Isn't it?

And Finally, a sneak peak of my latest inspiration.  I hope you don't think that I came to Centre George Pompidou only for Edvard Munch, because I also took a peak at the south gallery and found the work of art that have been inspiring me these last seven days.  Fortunately, oh I feel so fortunately, we are allowed to take several photos in the gallery, and the photo above is one of them.  I'll talk about it more on my next post. In the meantime, have a good day!

The Jewelries on My Wedding

Being the third generation of a chinese desendant, I tried to respect the heritage that was passed down to me.  At the beginning of the twentieth century, my grandfather sail by boat from China to Indonesia to start a living. His boat landed on a little island called Belitung.  This is the place where he started his first job in a foreign country as a tin miners.  I never met him, he passed away while my father was 16.   I adapted well with the country where I was born. However, when it comes to special event like right now I feel the strong bond to come back to my root.  This is why I choose red because it is the color my ancenstor wore for their mariage. This represents prosperity and goodluck.

The white are the color universal that the western culture symbolize as purity.  And finally, the Ao dai is a traditional outfit in Vietnam.  An act to respect the root where my husband came from, and the culture of my future family.

You can take a look at the dress at the last image of this post.

For this necklace, the pearls was alternated with the opal swarovski to add a bit of a modern touch.  The little red flower falls a bit on the left side instead of the middle.

And finally the bracelet that was, again, alternated with the swarovski crystals with different cut so it looks more chic on my wrist.  Traditional doesn't mean old fashion.

The civil wedding ran quite fast, not more than twenty minutes.  The mayor read the important clauses, and ask us if we consented, the couple and the witness signed some paperworks, and finally D and I exchanged the ring.  The date itself, 7 October, was quite a special day for us for it is also D's birthday.

But that's also the day of a friday street market!  Since it was in the middle of the week, we expect that it would be a quiet ceremony. But we were wrong because it turned out that almost every people in the neighbourhood celebrating our happy day.

There were all kinds of crowds: those with their little trolleys, the sellers behind their booths of fruits, vegatables, and all sorts of thingamagics. We parked far for the parking lot was packed.  For that, we had quite a distance of walk.  On the street, we couldn't avoid people looking at us and smiling, some said kind words: "felicitation!", "belle!", "wow!", "jolie!", "oulala!", "Are we invited?"

True that it is not everyday that a bride and a groom walking through the market like we did.  To top off the madness of the day, D took me to dance over one of the music performed by one of the street artist.

Oh, and that's not finish.  We won't just got married at the townhall, would we? The day after, on Saturday, we had a special dinner with our close friends and family. And below are the pieces I wore. (aie, too much jewelry in two days! but heyy it's my special day) This is the dress for the soirĂ©e. And these are the jewelries that match with it.

Still loyal to the concept of half pearl half swarovski. I love the disc crystals that serves as a charm at the end of the hook.

A disc diamond pendant necklace that my mother gave me, to align with the theme of the night, I wire wrapped the same fresh water pearl I used for the bracelet.

A pair of diamond earrings that values more than just any diamond because these pair used to be on the ears of my grandmother.  I want her to give us blessing from heaven.  I did the same as the necklace to stay align with the theme of the night.

And finally, of course, the most precious present from my husband that never leave my ring finger.  That I'm sure you've seen it somewhere here
