Tealight Candle, Dried Flower, and Glass Jar

I can't seems to say goodbye to the empty glass jar from honeys, mustards, jams, nutellas, pickles. In fact I find a glass jar a more efficient way to store home made pickles, sauces, caramel, even to store fresh gingers.  It doesn't take as much space in the fridge as the plastic containers and, finally, it sits more beautifully.  I never stock up too much of these.

Last month we received a special present for our wedding, and inside the box there were so many dried rose petals, they smell so good for a moment I feel like we were in a rose garden. I don't have a heart to throw it away (I do, tho, throw away stuff sometimes), after a couple days ago I found a better reason to keep it! yaay!

Together with the dried lavender I harvested two summers ago in Perigord, and a tealight candle, this rose petals sits calmly in an ex-mustard glass jar and will serve itself for a special occasion. If you take out the tealight candle and put your nose in the jar, it smells good...

I managed to make the second candle decoration with the roses, that I dried because I don't dare to throw them away, my husband gave me for my birthday last year.  Which one do you prefer?

Posing at the Château

Two weeks ago we decided to take any bus and get off wherever the line ends.  We didn't expect anything great but we were so lucky it ends at the Château de Vincennes. We gladly accepted our 'destiny' taking a tour, napping at the courtyard...

and D capturing priceless image like this one..

and also, of course, those of his own personal model, me.  I start liking the idea of posing like a real manequinn, still haven't regain any patience since last time tho, but in the name of a beautiful sunny day, I am willing to try harder.

It always feels good to be pretty anyway...

Only this time is with a little less jewelry modelling and more autumn look.

Oh It's great to be outside!

After a little more effort, here goes my new bracelet.  An argentium silver wirewrapped bracelet with pink oval freshwater pearl and light rose swarovski crystals.

Finally, what do you think of my Mango dress and cross-body bag, H&M faux leather jeacket, and Forever 21 charcoal knit scarf?

Table Stationery for the Wedding Guests

After the Handmade wedding bouquet, the second stuff of the wedding DIY I made for my own is the table stationery.  Plenty of ideas in my mind. Having some candies inside the guests tags, for examples. It didn't happened, and not sure if the reason lies between laziness or worry that some of my guests are actually on diet. Anyway, I decided to do it simple ways, just the name.

First thing first, the plan. So I want to have it folded into two and stand up just like a roof on a traditional house, with a bowtie on top and a golden strips, and a guestname in front of it.

I used two types of papers.  The thicker carton just so it can stand while it is folded into two, and the art paper to write the name of the guests.  Except for that, the tools I used are: a cutter to cut the papers, rulers, a scissors to cut the ribbon, a ribbon,  a perforator, a glue, a fountain pen, an eraser to erase the pencil marks,  a glitter, I used an eyeglitter that I found in my makeup case, and finally a strip of golden carton to accentuate the card.
For that, I recycled the cover of an autumn-winter 2010 Mango catalog.

This is how it looks like after:
1. cutting 11*9cm of thick carton and folding it horizontally into two.
2. glueing in the gold strips.
3. perforating close to the frame and right in the middle of the card where the ribbon would be tied in.
4. applying the glitter on the front side of the card to give a shiny effect.
5. tying in a 20cm length of bronze ribbon.

Now the calligraphy exercise.  I try to write the name of the guests somewhere else before I am sure to have it on the art paper.

Then I glued the 7.9*3.7cm art paper right in the middle of the front side of the folded carton, traced down the calligraphy with a pencil, doubled the trace with the fountain pen, waited for 10 minutes before erasing the pencil trace. This is how the card with the name on look like. Please ignore the golden strip error I made on this dummy.

And Finally this is how it looks like on the dining table.  I decided at the last minute to change the bow. This one is thinner and 10cm longer than the original plan above.

The comeback of my Favorite Color

A special bracelet for Mrs H :)

Turquoise Flower Bracelet

Dear Madame, So I combine a silver freshwater pearl with turquoise flower.  I have made this before the Olive bracelet, but then I hesitate for it is not completely turquoise like you prefer it here... and it does have a different style... but I can't help not to show you for it is so light and casual, I even dare to feel that this might be something that you would like more... Tell me if I'm wrong...

Olive with antique gold chain bracelet

To a special person, as promised... I wonder if you would want it bigger? to me it is perfect.. the tiny faceted peridot briolette, round faceted milky lime natural stone, the champagne czech rondelle, and my favorite amongst the variety is the taupe baroque fresh water pearl. Altogether with a tiny bronzy antique gold chain, do you like the burnt gold heart toggle? Now for the turquoise bracelets, you would have to wait a little longer before I can come out with something special... be patient <3 bisous.

5.3km of Paris: Ivry-sur-Seine

Olàlà C'est le weekend! Time passed super fast.  Finally we get our reservation to visit la tour eiffel that I talked about last 2 weeks.  Changing the air from the big city,  here goes the series of captures at Ivry-sur-Seine, 17 times smaller than Paris, located at the southeast outside the capital.
While the industrialization of the territory in Ivry began in 1835, the city has plenty of old factories and mills that sometimes transformes into a place to life.

Contrast from Paris, the Ivriens are less glowing and more modest.

Dozens of old railways that connect Paris and department Val de Marne.

And finally, the leaves and flowers of the autumn at the Parc des Cormailles. Have a good weekend!

Handmade Wedding Bouquet

I have always want to make a hand bouquet, after reading a couple of how-to's and watching this video below, I decided that our civil wedding was be a perfect occasion to challenge myself.

Thursday afternoon, the day before the wedding, I picked up two fresh packages of white flowers.

Nine stems of white rose along with the baby's breath.

And a fresh bouquet of white freesia along with the palm leaves.  I did exactly as the video said with more variety of flower, and tied it up with a golden and a white ribbon.

This is how it looks like, it's too bad I don't have enough photos of the bouquet alone.

Me voilà, with the red ao dai and the bouquet.

I'm Back Happily Married

Hei I'm back! Last week would probably the last shorts and light jeans jacket I wear for the year as it starts to get super cold out there.

Despite of the weather, I am so happy to finally step on to a marriage life.  After the grandiose engagement party in Indonesia, a couple of romantic photo sessions as a newlyweds, the formalities at the town hall, an intimate wedding party in Paris, and a week of honey moon just the two of us, I am glad to finally get to breath fresh air without having to think about a wedding details.

This week I plan to share a couple of things I did with my hands around the wedding preparation: the handmade hand bouquet, jewelries I made to match my red and white ao dai, and finally the table stationary I made for each of our guests on our wedding day. And if you are lucky perhaps I'll casually post some of our photos :) Enjoy your monday!

A Week before the Wedding...

The sun shone warmly last weekend, I got a chance to take a walk and capture this beautiful flower. Unfortunately, it would be the last nice weather before the fall starts.. This is the busiest I ever get after the vacation last summer.  We are preparing for the wedding at the townhall and the party the day after, I never really imagine that with all the unexpected detail things can be so crammed and busy.  I have made a couple of jewelries that I haven't got a chance to post at my etsy shop. Here is three of them....

Before I get my concentration back at work, I am expecting a week break after the wedding, and, finally, after that many visits to the tower, we finally would be able to climb up the Eiffel Tower and looking down to Paris.  I see you next weekend!

It's Autumn!

Everybody loves autumn! It's true!  Despite of the clouds, and the touissant holiday that normally calms down any parisian park's population, this weekend it happens otherwise.

Even the witches love the October air...

umh, maybe not everybody.. But everybody enjoys the nature! Happy Halloween everyone..
