Centre George Pompidou exposition: Blobterre and Green Attitude

Look what I found in the mail this morning. Invitation!

Since we have laissez-passer for this museum, me and D are by default invited to the opening of every expositions.  I am not sure how many invitations were sent to us, but amongst those we just happened to come to one, by accident.  It was memorable, there was a techno show, and lots of old video games, like tetris and pacman, laying around in the room to be operated in a different way. Too bad that I couldn't remember the name of the exhibition, but I promise I'll find it out.

I would love to come to all of them but there are always things that stops me from going.  This brings us wondering do we really don't have time or is it us who are reluctant to meet people?

You probably already guessed what we'll do with this invitation. But hopefully this time we have a stronger reason, for the night of October the 8th 2011 we'll be dining and celebrating our wedding with our family and friends.  In anyway, enjoy your weekend! <3

The Misterious side of Hippy Telly

Hello! (waving hands) It's weekend! Yaay! And here it is my last customized order for the week. There you go the derivation of the original Hippy Telly bracelet, displayed in on my facebook page.  I add more chains, replace the blowglass with the czech crystals, and the czech crystals with the silverish baroque fresh water pearl.

This is the original Hippy Telly looks like, with the blowglass and less chain, they each have their own vibe I should say.

Finally, I hope it turns out how it looks on your imagination. Have a good weekend, Mrs H, and my fellow blogger <3

European Heritage Day

For this special weekend we went to the fifth arrondissement of Paris and visited Panthéon.  Under the reign of Louise XV, this neoclassical church was originally built as a pledge of thanksgiving and a dedication to Saint Geneviève who had believed to recover the king from his serious illness.  Today this building belongs to the French republic and considered as one of its monument nationals.

In 1851, The Foucault's pendulum, a demonstration conducted by a french physicist Léon Foucault to prove the effect of earth's rotation, was installed.
This one of the first fascinating prove of scientific knowledge worth the headline of Le Petit Parisien.

On the way to the Crypt, located at the basement of the monument where laid the body of the French authors, scientists, resistance fighters, and the heroes.

You can visit the website  to explore more the architectural concept and the history.  I find it more interesting to at least read the hand-outs before visiting the place.  There will be plenty of info inside the monument but you don't want to be stuck watching at the video about the pendulum or reading the biographies of the heroes instead of enjoying the beautiful heritage from the 18th century.

Customized Jewelry for Madame H

Dear Madame H, I'm sorry you lost your jewelry, fortunately I am still here. It's true that I couldn't remake exactly the same pieces for it has been awhile, but here goes the two propositions.

The good news is I am able to find the identical Czech rondelles for the top, the swarovski crystals in the middle, and the baroque fresh water pearl at the end. There are, meanwhile, five milimeters difference of length between the two, 45mm vs 50mm. While the shorter has bigger chain and 4 smaller fresh water pearls, the longer has thinner chain and 4 bigger fresh water pearls. If you want the two sets to be identical, only the shorter option is available. I hope it is not too hard to decide. Hope to hear from you!

Les Parisiens under the sun

When the sun is up, the Parisians are out, from Montparnasse, St Germain de Prés (again!) to Pont des Arts. I hope you have a sunny weekend!

PS: If you see your friends in one of these photos let me know!

My first DIY art project: drawstring multi-usage sack

Yesterday I said goodbye to one of my favorite pants. I bought this pants more than ten years ago from Express in Tucson Mall during the summer sale of 2001. And five years after that date until today he is bestfriends with the closet. I can still get into this pants, I think, But everytime I wear it I feel weird.

So there you go, I cut the knees off and, since I don't have a sewing machine, handstitched it.

Converting the belt into a drawstring

this is how it looks like inside out,

This is how it looks like outside in, and done.

Here's a couple of ideas on what to use it for...

Maybe I am a bit innovating things here, but this might be a cute bag to carry a wine bottle.  For example you are invited to a dinner with friends and you want to bring wine, or champagne, as a gift or to drink them together.  So instead of carrying it with a plastic or a brown bag I just think that it is more chic to carry it with this new handmade drawstring sack you just made.   Bon, maybe.  Or another idea might be a container for your toiletteries or make up gadgets while travelling.

At the moment, this bag serves its function as my (clean) tights, pantyhose, stockings, socks organizer.
YAAY I did something with my hands, this project has refreshed my day, it is indeed a great temporary change from making that much jewelry.

Picking up Hazelnut for Weekend

Here I go, smiling again... I have a good reason for it's the weekend! :)

And squatting again, I hope you don't think that this is my favorite position somehow. We are actually picking up hazelnuts under their trees that grow not too far from our apartment.

Everytime we pass this street there are at least one person with a big sack getting busy gathering the seeds.  One time while walking home, I took five of them out of curiosity. I got a hammer and cracked it out of its shell and found out that it is actually one of my favorite nuts. Yaay! For a short second I had this innovative thought: with that much of hazelnut I can make my own nutella.

I am not the only one who love hazelnut I think, did you see the two birds that are in the middle of a nut party?

So, last weekend I persuaded D to come with me and pick up more than five of these nuts, and we got home with at least five kilos of them! Aren't their gorgeous? I wonder if I should keep the nutella idea or just crack twenty of them and make a hazelnut banana bread... Meanwhile, Enjoy your weekend!

Monsieur Rayure and Packaging

Voilà Monsieur Rayure that is voluntarily willing to be transformed into my new choochoo idol: the monkey from RIO...

Well, he is missing some attitude, but at least I feel less lonely with him accompanying me next to my desk.

As a result, I had a productive day and decided to finish off the design of the packaging for my jewelry.  Don't expect something like this come in the mail, though, to avoid the attetion of thieves in the mail, this beautiful package will be hidden inside an ugly used cereal box (or any recycled box I could find) covered on a white wrap with your name and your address on it.
